Disc / Device notes

Browsers cannot access DVD/BD drives directly like a native VLC app. For discs/devices, use a gateway (e.g., convert to HLS/WebRTC) or open the file system content.

This player is designed to be a single index.html front-end. Full “plays everything” parity requires a server-side gateway or a native app.

Note: If your website runs on HTTPS but your stream is HTTP, browsers will block it (mixed content). Use HTTPS stream endpoints, or configure Settings → Proxies.

Caster.fm embed widget (recommended for Free Cloud)

Caster.fm Cloud provides embeddable players. Free Cloud accounts typically rely on widgets because direct stream links can require authentication.

Audio

WebAudio equalizer + dynamics (where supported). For best results, play via the built-in player.

CSS-based filters (brightness, contrast, saturation, hue). These do not re-encode; they’re display-only.

Playback engines

Browsers differ from native VLC: codec support depends on the device. This app supports: Native playback + optional external engines for HLS/DASH if you provide them.

Optional engine scripts

To keep this as a single index.html, engines can be loaded from local paths first, then optional CDNs. You can host these scripts yourself to avoid any third-party requests.

Live / Low-latency tuning

For IPTV live streams (HLS/DASH), you can tune latency and buffering. Low-latency works best with LL‑HLS/CMAF streams and a capable device.

Tip: On Smart TVs, a slightly higher buffer (20–40s) improves stability on Wi‑Fi.

Engines: Native only

Gateways (SRT / UDP / Multicast / Secure proxy)

Protocols like srt:// and udp:// are not playable directly in browsers. Configure a gateway that converts to HLS/DASH/WebRTC.

If set, HTTP(S) streams are routed via the proxy for CORS/headers (only if you choose).

Why this exists: Many IPTV/HLS servers block browsers via CORS or mixed content (HTTPS portal → HTTP stream). The proxy fetches the stream server-side and serves it from the same origin. This is not a full VPN, but acts like a secure relay for media streams.

Tip: On Smart TVs, HTTPS-only avoids mixed-content blocks when the page is HTTPS.

Privacy & local storage

No analytics, ads, or tracking code are included. Preferences are stored locally using localStorage.

Voice controls

Free on-device speech features via your browser (Web Speech API). For hands-free control, enable a wake word. For push-to-talk, enable hold-to-talk.

Create a room on this origin, then join from phones, tablets, or TVs. Host can drive channel changes, seeks, and pause/play.
